About the observatory
Who observes, how the site is put together, and where the sister collections live.
The <head> Observatory is one more stickybit collection made of lots of little pages. The HTML Herbarium catalogued the document's body — the elements that appear on the page; The Shell Reliquary kept the command line's lost symbols; this observatory closes the document: it catalogues what sits above the body, the sky of the <head>, where nothing appears and everything governs.
The 24 stars were checked against the HTML specification and MDN, which are the sources pointed to on each label. The rarity classification is the curators' opinion.
Everything here is generated by gen_observatorio.py, a Python script a few hundred lines long, in the same spirit as Jim Nielsen's Lots of Little HTML Pages: every state is a page, every page is a file, and not a byte of JavaScript is served.
