The last argument of the previous line. If you take one home, take this.
The most useful relic in the box. The previous command's last argument is almost always the one that matters — the directory just created, the file just downloaded — and !$ brings it back for two characters.
The dollar sign points at the end, as in regular expressions. If you'd rather see before running, there's the cousin Alt+., which pastes the same argument into the line, editable.

$ cd !$
cd ~/coleta/exsicatas/2026
